 Hotfolder

Processing files by an application that is checking a designated folder (directory, hotfolder) for newly arrived files or folders based on rules (time interval or a market file). This called a watch process. The files are processed automatically until the user stops the watch process.

 Batch conversion

Processing one or more files by making a selection of files or folders and initiating the processing by pressing a control button. Requires user intercation in a desktop application for each batch operation.

 Image+Text

PDF files that contain scanned page images with text entities generated by bulk (uncorrected) OCR. The scanned images will be displayed in the PDF file providing 100% visual accuracy, but text entities are also placed on the PDF canvas. The text entities are searchable and selectable for cut-and-paste operations if enabled, but they are invisible because of the transparent font outline and color. ELAN GMK applications place the generated text entities in front of the page image.
